Complete Proteins and EAAUpdated 4 months ago
A protein is considered "complete" when it contains all 9 essential amino acids. Essential amino acids are vital to a great number of bodily functions, and cannot be produced endogenously, unlike all other amino acids. Many dietary proteins have all 9 eaa's, in particular animal proteins, however the EAA content per gram of protein can vary wildly from source to source.
Whey protein isolate (such as Kion Clean Protein) is considered to be the most efficient "in-tact" protein when it comes to muscle protein synthesis, and does have a very favorable amino acid profile when compared to many other proteins. This rate of mps can really only be eclipsed by an Essential Amino Acid product (such as Kion Aminos ) . This is largely due to the fact that a free-form (as opposed to intact) amino acid does not have to be broken down further and thus will be much more efficient.
Can I take both? Most certainly yes. Increasing the Leucine profile of a whey protein (by adding Kion Aminos) has shown to positively impact the rate of muscle protein synthesis of a whey protein.
